Paul Pogba makes Arsenal admission as Manchester United man names his footballing idol

Arsenal's French contingent in the 90s helped Paul Pogba declare his allegiance to the Gunners, with the Manchester United midfielder explaining that he was an Arsenal fan back in the day.

Players such as Emmanuel Petit, Robert Pires, Patrick Viera and Thierry Henry amazed young Pogba in his early days.

It was the latter, Arsenal legend Henry, one of Pogba's idols, who helped him make up his mind.

“I will be honest,” said Pogba. "At the start, I was an Arsenal fan – obviously because of all the French players, you know.

“Me and my brother were, but my other brother was a Manchester United fan.

“I used to love Thierry Henry and, because of him, I was an Arsenal fan."

Joining Henry - with posters on the Pogba wall - were legends of the game including Ronaldo, Zidane and Ronaldinho.

“I had Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Thierry Henry, Djibril Cisse and Kaka,” explained Pogba.

Pogba's Arsenal fandom doesn't exist to this day though - he jumped away from the Gunners to follow in the footsteps of his elder brother, a Manchester United fan.

“Then I changed and went on to choose with my other brother, the United fan!" explained the turncoat.

Pogba is currently in his second stay with Man United, but the midfield has only managed to appear seven times for the Red Devils due to injury.
