Paul Pogba injury latest ahead of Liverpool's clash with Manchester United later this month

Paul Pogba looks set to miss Manchester United’s showdown with Liverpool at Anfield in a couple of weeks.

Pogba’s manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has confirmed that the Frenchman will be out for a 'few weeks' after a recurrence of his troublesome ankle injury.

The World Cup winner sat out of his side’s trip to Burnley on Saturday because he 'did not feel right' to play 48 hours after completing the whole of the second-half against Newcastle on Boxing Day.

And now Solskjaer has confirmed that Pogba will also miss his side’s trip to Anfield on January 19. "He's injured," the Norwegian told MUTV before United’s clash with Arsenal on Wednesday night.

"He's feeling some discomfort in his ankle and he'll be out for a few weeks."

Pogba first suffered an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw with Southampton on August 31 and returned for the League Cup third round draw with Rochdale on September 25, but has since been plagued by the injury for most of the campaign.

The central midfielder will miss also United’s FA Cup third round tie at Wolves, the League Cup semi-final first leg against Manchester City, as well as the visit of Norwich City in the Premier League.
