Paul Pogba helps ease N'Golo Kante absence worries as Chelsea warned of Juventus danger man

Chelsea travel to Turin for matchday two of the Champions League as Juventus welcome the Blues to the Allianz Stadium.

Thomas Tuchel's side were left licking their wounds after the defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, but they'll be hoping to bounce back with a win as they look to send a statement out to the rest of Europe.

Massimiliano Allegri returned to Juventus this summer following Andrea Pirlo's dismissal, though his start to life back at the club hasn't been great with Juve currently sitting tenth in Serie A with just eight points to their name.

However, despite the Old Lady's stuttering form and the absences of Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata, Tuchel's men still have a huge job on their hands if they're to take all three points from their trip to Italy.

Our CareFreeChelsea social producer Jai Mcintosh was joined by our writer and presenter Daniel Childs on football.london's Chelsea Facebook page, and they spoke with Juventus expert Adam Digby ahead of the Blues' clash with the Old Lady.

Digby kickstarted the discussion by detailing the unique situation Juventus are in at the moment and how the return of Allegri has seen him continue the poor form shown late on in his first spell as manager.

"It's a really strange situation at the moment," he began. "When Allegri returned to replace Pirlo it was really good and bad at the same time because, yes, he obviously won five league titles in a row and got Juve to two Champions League finals, but the 12-18 months after the Champions League final to Real Madrid in Cardiff where Juve took a hammering, he was really negative in his approach and it just didn't work and they got eliminated from the Champions League twice really cheaply.

"It's just been downhill from then and the same story - any sign of adversity and he goes back to being negative straight away."

Digby continued by warning Tuchel of Juventus' main threat and explained how the Italian side can penetrate Chelsea's defence.

"[Federico] Chiesa has been in great form, hasn't he? He's struggled a little bit with injury and fitness since the start of the season, but he looked really good again at the weekend against Sampdoria," he added.

"He likes nothing more than toasting left-backs! If [Marcos] Alonso is a concern then that is something Juve will look at."

Chelsea will be without N'Golo Kante on Wednesday after he tested positive for coronavirus, though Digby went on to explain that the Frenchman's absence in midfield might not be as worrying as you might think.

"Juve's biggest problem has been in midfield," he said. "It has been for quite some time now. With Manuel Locatelli they seem to be getting around that a little bit.

"The biggest problem has been the fit of the players [Juventus have signed in midfield]. In isolation, since [Paul] Pogba left in 2016, they signed Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic, they signed Blaise Matuidi, Adrien Rabiot - they all seem like good deals but when you put them together on the pitch they're a really bad fit."

The Juventus expert concluded by revelling in the tactical battle between Tuchel and Allegri, before acknowledging the latters' recent demise.

"The way Allegri was in his last season and a half [at Juventus] and so far this season too, he's not up to a coaching battle against someone as on his game right now as Tuchel is.

"We've seen before, like in Cardiff, that Allegri relishes contests like that and often comes out on top, losing two Champions League finals to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Allegri was a world-class manager and has sort of lost his way a little bit. Tuchel is there right now. Combined with the balance Juve don't have in midfield, those are the two areas I'm most concerned about."
