Paul Pogba has already delivered his verdict on Ainsley Maitland-Niles amid Man United links

The summer transfer window closes next Monday and the rumours are heating up.

Arsenal are one of several clubs being tipped to be active all the way up until deadline day amid links to the likes of Thomas Partey, Houssem Aouar and even Chelsea vice-captain Jorginho.

Meanwhile, Sead Kolasinac, Lucas Torreira and Sokratis are among those who could be sold to raise funds for further incomings.

But could Ainsley Maitland-Niles also be heading for the exit door?

Well, there has been talk of a surprise move to Premier League rivals Manchester United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to add much-needed reinforcements to his squad before the transfer window shuts.

According to Sport1, the deal to take Maitland-Niles from London to Manchester is 80 percent done, and in addition, the report says the transfer could be announced in 'the next few days.'

However, any move would not be cheap, with the 23-year-old still having three years left on his current contract.

The report in Sport1 says United are prepared to pay around £20million for Maitland-Niles.

It was at Old Trafford towards the end of the 2017-18 where Maitland-Niles caught the eye in a 2-1 loss, so much so that he earned the praise of Paul Pogba who appears to be a big fan of the Gunners midfielder.

"He said to me that I need to keep working hard," Maitland-Niles told Sky Sports when explaining the brace between the pair after the final whistle. "He enjoyed playing against me and that was it really.

"He just told me to keep going and gave me some words of advice which was nice."

With that said, The Manchester Evening News have since reported that there is nothing in the rumour linking Maitland-Niles with United.

Furthermore, it's understood that the club are working on bringing in three players before Monday's deadline.

And whilst Maitland-Niles is not on that list, Porto's Alex Telles is the Red Devils' no.1 target for filling the full-back position, while they continue to be linked with Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele.
