Paul Pogba gives update on Manchester United contract talks

Paul Pogba insisted he is happy at Manchester United but is not thinking about a potential new contract at Old Trafford just yet.

The midfielder is in the best form of his United career, having scored two winning goals in their last three league games as the Reds battle for top spot in the division.

His form comes after agent Mino Raiola's claim at the start of December that Pogba's time at the club was 'over'.

Raiola's comments prompted plenty of transfer speculation and, with 18 months left on his current contract, United risk being forced to sell the World Cup winner this summer or lose him on a free transfer next year.

In a conversation with Rio Ferdinand for BT Sport, Pogba was asked if he plans to stay at United for 'a long time'.

Whilst the 27-year-old was coy over the prospect of a new contract, he insisted he is enjoying his football and his main aim is to win something.

"You were waiting for this one, weren't you?" he laughed at the question. "I'm under contract, I'm here. I'm enjoying myself. I'm here. Everybody knows I have one year left and I speak with the club and see what's going on.

"Like I say, now, my objective, my goal is to win something. That's all I'm thinking about is to win. Bring all my energy, give my best to help the team the most I can and to win something. That's all I'm focussing on. The contract, that's not important, it's to win."
