Paul Pogba given transfer 'ultimatum' by Real Madrid

Manchester United's Paul Pogba has been a transfer ultimatum by Real Madrid - sign this summer or miss out.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane wants Pogba and Chelsea's Eden Hazard to be his marquee signings as he looks to get the La Liga giants back on top.

United boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer has said he wants to rebuild his team around Pogba - but a transfer fee of up to £160million for Pogba would go a long way to help him revamp the Red Devils squad.

And if keeper David de Gea and striker Romelu Lukaku were also to leave, Solskjaer could have a huge transfer war chest on his hands.

Pogba himself appears keen on a move to Spain, having said recently it would be a "dream" to join Real Madrid.

But Zidane is not prepared to wait any longer than necessary for Pogba as he presses the reset button on a Real Madrid team that failed to win La Liga or the Champions League this season.

He has told Pogba's agent Mino Raiola that he needs Pogba this summer or not at all, according to The Sun .

It may not just be a straight £160 million fee that lures Pogba to the Bernabeu, with a couple of Real players potentially moving the other way.

Spanish sources say both Gareth Bale and Toni Kroos has been offered and according to a translation in TeamTalk , Kroos is a player that interests the Old Trafford hierachy.

But it's actually Raphael Varane who United want to underpin any Pogba deal.

The highly-rated French defender is just coming into his prime - and Solskjaer sees him as a lynchpin of a new-look defence.

Madrid won't want to let him leave - but they've always set their stall with creative players like Pogba over reliable defenders.
