Paul Pogba explains key change in Man Utd dressing room which has kick-started season

Paul Pogba admits Man Utd's recent form has come as a result of a shift in mentality in the dressing room.

United have put themselves in serious contention for the Premier League title this season after going 13 games unbeaten.

They are also through to the fifth round of the FA Cup after seeing off rivals Liverpool in a thrilling tie at Old Trafford.

Pogba has been central to their impressive performances of late, as he has personally produced some of his best form in recent memory.

But he insists the improvement from within the United camp has been less about individuals and more a collective effort.

Asked by Rio Ferdinand for BT Sport what has changed to click United into gear, Pogba replied: "The mentality.

"Playing more as a team, defending much better, pressing much better together.

"No one is cheating, by that I mean not running less or not making the effort to come back."

Ferdinand then asked whether that was the issue behind United's inconsistency all along.

"Yes it’s always been a problem," Pogba said. "When you are together it’s always going to be easier.

"If someone is making less effort it is always going to be a problem for the team, but when you are all together you have the same mentality, you all work hard, obviously it’s always better and you see the result."

It has been a remarkable turnaround from Pogba, given it was only last month that his agent Mino Raiola suggested the "unhappy" midfielder needed a "change of air".

Since then the Frenchman has gone from strength to strength, scoring the winning goals against Burnley and Fulham, while putting in a man of the match display against Liverpool.

Speculation naturally still circles around Pogba's future, with less than 18 months remaining on his contract at United.

But recent results and a title challenge could be enough to keep him at United for the long-term, and Pogba admits he is planning showdown talks with the club's board to determine what's next.

"I’ve a contract, I’m here, I’m enjoying myself, everybody knows that I have one year left so I’m going to speak to the club to see what’s going on.

"Now my objective, my goal is to win something that’s all I’m thinking about is to win, bring my energy, do the best I can to help the team the most.

"That's all I'm thinking of. The contract is not important, just to win."
