Paul Pogba did something Manchester United coaches loved vs Tottenham

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Paul Pogba did 'everything a midfielder should do' in Manchester United's Premier League draw with Tottenham.

Pogba came on for his first appearance in 176 days as a second-half substitute and won the penalty that Bruno Fernandes converted to gain a point for United and extend their unbeaten run to 12 games.

United trailed Tottenham 1-0 at half-time and Pogba warmed up during the interval but was not introduced until 15 minutes after the restart for Fred. United host Sheffield United on Wednesday and there is bound to be a clamour for Pogba to start after a successful comeback.

"Paul did well and it's not a problem having a fit Paul Pogba in the squad," Solskjaer said. "We're delighted to have him back. He showed hunger for football, he has had a couple of months out and wanted to come back and was close just before lockdown. He did everything a midfielder should do. He showed some skill, fantastic to have him back.

"He contributed a lot for us to get a point and could've helped to get us three points, he did everything a midfielder should do, tackled, made passes.

"Paul's always wanted to play. He loves football and it's been great having him back training with us. Everyone can see the quality he provides, he's such an enthusiastic and passionate boy and everyone can see the quality he provides.

"I think Paul always has a point to prove to himself and us, he expects a lot from himself. He wants to be the best, he loves football and has had such a frustrating season with his injuries.

"There will always be talk about big players, for me Paul's shown today how he can contribute, tackled, won the ball, created chances and had skill to win us a penalty. We look forward to getting him fitter and gradually we'll see him more and more and see Paul back to his best."
