Paul Pogba dealt Real Madrid blow as club make dramatic transfer decision - latest Premier League rumours

Real Madrid will not fight Manchester United to sign Paul Pogba this summer - according to a report.

Los Blancos are prepared to wait for a better opportunity to sign the Frenchman as Old Trafford chiefs play hardball over his future.

AS claim Zinedine Zidane's side have already had two offers knocked back and are reticent to meet the 26-year-old's £160million price tag.

The midfielder is seemingly determined to engineer an exit from United this summer, publicly revealing it may be time for a new challenge.

Former club Juventus , who sold Pogba to United for £89m in 2016, are now considered frontrunners.

Details of an alleged phone call between the player and new Juve boss Maurizio Sarri have surfaced online in recent days, claiming Pogba is "desperate" to get out of Manchester.

If he eventually heads to Turin, Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt could join him.

The 19-year-old is perhaps Europe's hottest property and a host of top clubs are battling it out for his signature.

Barcelona, Real Madrid , Paris-Saint Germain and United are among them, but it's now claimed Juventus have taken pole position in a dramatic new twist.

Dutch paper De Telegraaf report de Ligt has an attractive offer from the Serie A champions.

Whether this is concrete or just another play to force another club's hand remains to be seen, but it would be a stunning end to one of the most protracted sagas of the summer so far.

The report from the Netherlands has also been interpreted as de Ligt deciding on Juventus, which isn't the case as yet.

United, meanwhile, could be set for a much-needed boost.

Keeper David De Gea has been stalling over a new contract, with a £300,000 a week package believed to have been on the table for several months.

But as he enters the final year of his deal, the Spaniard has been holding out for more.

An improved £350,000 a week pay packet has now apparently been put to De Gea in a last ditch bid to keep him at Old Trafford.

If terms can't be agreed, United face either selling him this transfer window or losing a player widely regarded as the world's best goalkeeper for free next summer.
