Paul Pogba comments suggest how he will react to Cristiano Ronaldo joining Man Utd

Paul Pogba's future has appeared to be away from Old Trafford if this summer's speculation is anything to go by, but the Frenchman has made some particularly revealing comments which could mean he is staying put at Manchester United.

Pogba has enjoyed a stunning start to the season, registering five assists in the opening two games of the Premier League season as United sit sixth in the table with a trip to Wolves coming up next.

The game at the Molineux has become somewhat of a side story amid the news that Man Utd have agreed a deal with Juventus to bring superstar Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club eleven years after he swapped Manchester for Madrid.

In what is undoubtedly the most high-profile transfer the league has seen this window, Ronaldo's return has led to discussions surrounding what this means for the club's ambitions for the upcoming season.

United are without a trophy of any kind in four years, while their wait for a league title dates back to Sir Alex Ferguson's last campaign at the helm of the club - eight years ago.

Pogba has since revealed what he thinks would mark a successful season for the club in an interview with former United shot-stopper Tim Howard via NBC Sports.

The World Cup winner was asked what the club's aims were for the 2021/22 campaign, to which Pogba said: "We look very strong – we have got Raphael Varane that has come here, Jadon [Sancho] that is here also, hopefully we don’t get injuries and have a full group, a full team and we can be very dangerous.

"The only achievement we can have that is better than last season is to win a trophy this year, we have a team that can win, we have the mentality and we are at the right club to win trophies.

"The only thing that I wish for us, the team, the club is to win trophies, to win Champions League, to win everything – we have a strong team to do that. Hopefully we can get to this goal this season."

Interestingly, Pogba was also grilled on what kind of things drive him to better himself, his answer straight from the Ronaldo textbook of motivation as the Frenchman revealed silverware is what keeps him going.

"Winning, winning trophies, winning individual trophies and collective trophies – that's what drives me and will keep driving me because it’s never enough. It's never enough, you will never get enough learning or improving, and get more experience.

"I always want to learn something, improve, to get better."

Ronaldo's arrival will surely bring silverware along with it, which in turn could inspire Pogba to extend his stay at United as he enters the final 12 months of his current contract.
