Paul Pogba claim sheds fresh light on reasons for Mino Raiola's transfer bombshell

Paul Pogba has reportedly been pressuring Mino Raiola to find him a new club, prompting the agent to announce his client wants to leave Manchester United.

During an interview with Italian newspaper Tuttosport earlier this week, Raiola said: "I can say that it's over for Paul Pogba at Manchester United.

"Paul is unhappy with Man United as he is no longer able to express himself in the way that he would like and as he is expected to."

The agent added: "I think that the best solution for both Pogba and Man United is that he goes in the next transfer window."

The timing of Raiola's bombshell raised eyebrows, as the interview was released on the eve of Manchester United's biggest game of the season: the trip to RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

The announcement came as an unwelcome distraction for the Red Devils ahead of a match in which they had to avoid defeat to ensure qualification to the last 16.

United went on to lose 3-2 to Leipzig as they crashed out of the continent's premier club competition and into the Europa League.

German publication Bild claims Raiola is facing pressure from Pogba to find his client a new club - and could even lose the World Cup winner's business if he fails to do so.

This prompted the agent to conduct the extensive interview with Tuttosport which left the Red Devils in no doubt over Pogba's future plans.

In his full interview, Raiola fired a warning to United in a bid to ensure Pogba can secure a move to "a new team, a change of air".

He added: "The Old Trafford club know that they risk losing him on a free transfer as it is not Paul's intention to extend his contract.

"Manchester United's board know the risk losing Pogba for free given the player has no intention of extending.

"If somebody does not understand that, then they do not understand football. In any case, let them blame me if Paul leaves."
