Paul Pogba asked about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's 'reality check' comments ahead of Manchester United vs Everton

Paul Pogba responded to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's warning to Manchester United's players by admitting their clash with Everton is 'destiny' — with the club's top four hopes hanging in the balance.

's game against Everton kicked off from 1.30pm at Goodison Park, with upcoming games against Manchester City and Chelsea in a vital week.

After five defeats in the past seven games causing a serious wobble for Solskjaer, Pogba was composed when interviewed by a Sky Sports reporter in the Goodison tunnel before the match.

"We know there's only five games left, it's very important game today and the result is important too," said Pogba.

"This match today is destiny for us."

After Solskjaer had claimed recent defeats had proven a "reality check" for some of his players, Pogba was asked if the squad had been affected by the manager's comments.

Solskjaer sent a warning in his pre-match press conference, saying: "As a club we cannot carry players."

He added a series of questions clearly designed to spark his side out of their slumber: "Are they fit enough? Are they hungry enough? Do they want this enough? Do they want to give everything to the team? Or do they think only about themselves?"

Pogba said in response: "The past is the past, we have to think about what's going to happen today, we're playing Everton, Man City and Chelsea and that will set up everything for next season.

"It's destiny for us."

United trailed 2-0 at half time against the Toffees after goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson.
