Paul Pogba announces new club after teasing Man Utd fans with "tomorrow" tweet

Manchester United star Paul Pogba took to Twitter to announce he has signed a new deal on Wednesday.

Unfortunately for Red Devils fans, the new deal is not an extension at Old Trafford, but a contract with Call of Duty team Verdansk FC.

Pogba sent Twitter users into a frenzy on Tuesday when he teed-up his announcement by simply posting: "TOMORROW".

Although there is the option to extend for another year, the World Cup winner has entered the final year of his deal with United.

The £89million man has been consistently linked with a move to Real Madrid, but some hoped his announcement would be unveiling a contract extension.

Recent reports have claimed the Frenchman is close to signing a new deal with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side after they secured Champions League football with a third-place finish in the Premier League.

However, his announcement instead saw him join Verdansk FC, who are named after the map in video game 'Call of Duty: Warzone' - a battle-royale game in which players compete to be the last team standing.

"Time to start my next chapter with #VerdanskFC," Pogba wrote. "This team is going to be [fire emoji]!!! #LetsGo, #Mayhem, #NewTeam, #FutureChampions, #Warzone, #CODPartner, #WhosIn, #NextChapter."

Pogba signing with the team is thought to be as part of a publicity campaign by Warzone publisher Activision.

Eagle-eyed Twitter users would have been disappointed by Pogba's announcement if they had seen the 27-year-old's other post on Tuesday evening.

After his "TOMORROW" tweet earned almost 100,000 likes, he wrote: "One clue for tomorrow...nothing about football".

Pogba struggled with ankle injuries throughout most of the campaign but played a vital role for United during the run-in.

He scored once and assisted twice as he featured in each of the Red Devils' 11 games following the restart in June.
