Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes team up in Manchester United practice match vs West Brom

Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes are set to play together in Manchester United's first practice match against West Brom on Friday afternoon.

United are facing the Championship side in two separate games at Old Trafford as they continue their preparations for the return of the Premier League next week.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the first group of players were pictured arriving at the club's home ground just after midday on Friday for the first encounter, with just one week to go until United's campaign resumes.

MEN Sport understands United organised two separate hour-long matches against West Brom for Friday afternoon, with the first-team squad split into two groups for the games.

Pogba and Fernandes both arrived at a similar time for the first match at Old Trafford, as Solskjaer continues to ponder his squad selection for the trip to Tottenham next Friday.

The midfield duo were on opposite sides in the intra-squad friendlies at Old Trafford and Carrington that took place on Saturday and Tuesday respectively.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were also pictured arriving as part of the first squad as Solskjaer looks to utilise as many players as possible ahead of their first match in over three months.

United youngster Teden Mengi was at Old Trafford just days after he was promoted to first-team training along with James Garner.

The youngster has shone at youth level this season but is yet to make his senior debut for the club having been on the bench for the away defeat to Astana in the Europa League in November.

United had no worries about pressing ahead with the organised friendly despite seeing their practice match against Stoke cancelled on Tuesday following a coronavirus scare for the visiting team.

The match earlier in the week was cancelled at short notice after Stoke manager Michael O'Neill learned he had tested positive for Covid-19 in a test done prior to travelling to Manchester, although players and staff from United and Stoke hadn't mixed by the time the game was called off.

Players pictured in first group of arrivals

Romero, Bishop; Bailly, Tuanzebe, Mengi, Williams, Dalot, Fosu-Mensah; Matic, Pogba, Fernandes, Gomes; Greenwood, Rashford, Martial, James
