Paul Pogba agent Mino Raiola aims fresh dig at Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson

Mino Raiola has aimed a fresh dig at Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson by insisting he did not force the club to resign Paul Pogba.

The French midfielder left United in 2012 after he failed to agree a new contract under Ferguson before eventually buying him back for a world-record fee four years later.

Ferguson has previously criticised Raiola for his role in Pogba's initial departure from the club, but now the agent has questioned why the Scot didn't speak out when the midfielder returned to Old Trafford in 2016.

“I didn’t threaten anyone at Manchester United with a gun to buy back Paul Pogba,” Raiola told Voetbal International.

“Alex Ferguson has gone straight against me and Paul, that is allowed, but where was he when his successors bought Paul back?”

Speaking last week, Raiola refused to rule out a move in the coming year but insisted Pogba would not leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window.

"Paul has always respected Manchester United, as long as Manchester United has respected Paul," Raiola told Sky Sports News.

"The only one that talks for Manchester United and Paul is Ole. I go by what he says; he will not move. That's OK and we are good with them.

"Paul is struggling a little bit with his injury and that's our main interest now. There's one objective that Paul has and that is to perform as well as possible with Manchester United.

"He's a top pro and I think that his heart is in the right place with Manchester United."
