Paul Pogba admits he could be on the bench for Manchester United's trip to Liverpool

Paul Pogba has revealed he doesn't know if he will be on the Manchester United bench or in the starting lineup when his side face Liverpool this weekend.

The midfielder is preparing for a top of the table clash as league leaders for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge and are aiming to prove true title challengers against the champions at Anfield.

However, the Frenchman doesn't know if he'll be taking part from the start or will need to hope the manager allows him to join the action as a substitute.

He says the reason is the depth of midfield options currently at the club who could perform against the Reds, which has also seen £35m signing Donny van de Beek struggle to get a look in.

Speaking to ManUtd.com he said: “We’ve always had very good midfielders. Carras [Michael Carrick] and others. It’s always been tough.

“You have to say all the midfielders have been doing great. For me, I came back from injury as well. Scott and Fred have been doing great, and Nemanja has been doing great and Bruno, since he arrived, has been doing great so it’s tough for the manager.

"I want to play but it’s tough… how do you take some players out? How?”

Pogba netted Man United's eventual winner in their nervy 1-0 win over Burnley, a result which allowed them to overtake Jurgen Klopp's side at the top of the table.

Despite his crucial contribution in a key game, however, the World Cup winner admits he's not guaranteed a place in the team.

“Results have been good as well so it’s always difficult. He(Solsjkaer) has to make some changes, some decisions and, you never know, I could be on the bench or play the next game.

"You have to take it, that’s football and the guys have been doing very well, so I can’t say anything."
