Paul Oakenfold and Tiesto join Beat 106 Scotland radio station

World-class DJs Paul Oakenfold and Tiesto are joining the newly relaunched radio station Beat 106 Scotland.

Scotland’s only dedicated dance-music station has announced its new line-up featuring big names such as Paul Oakenfold, Armin Van Buuren and Tiesto.

The announcement comes as the independent station celebrates 100,000 listening sessions since launching just last month.

It kicks off its new schedule this week and listeners can also look forward to new shows from dance music superstars including: John Digweed, Joris Voorn and Sander van Doom.

Paul Oakenfold, who joins the new weekend line-up with a Saturday night show, commented, “It’s great to be on the airwaves again in Scotland. I have amazing memories of Beat 106 back in the day, so to be part of its resurrection feels really good. I can't wait for Saturday night and hope everyone in Scotland and beyond tunes in.”

Station Founder Richard Wilkinson, said “While Beat 106 Scotland is incredibly proud to be a Scottish radio station, we are very excited to welcome such major international names to the station. We have introduced nine new shows and DJ’s in total, so there really is something for everyone and anyone that loves dance music.

“The pandemic has had a very real and devastating impact on the night time music industry, which we consider ourselves - in some ways – to be part of. We feel extremely lucky to be growing and to be somewhat of a lifeline for people who are missing clubbing and live DJ sets. Nothing can ever match the power of being on a dance floor, but we hope Beat 106 comes pretty close.”

Beat 106 Scotland returned digitally and under new Scottish ownership on July 1 and has since notched up more than 25,000 unique listeners.

Richard added: “We have been truly overwhelmed by the response so far. Not only have we attracted our “old” listeners, but we’ve also noticed a big influx of younger listeners who are choosing Beat 106 Scotland ahead of other, perhaps more commercial, stations.”

Beat 106 Scotland covers all forms of dance music from big-room house to techno and trance. Tune into Beat 106 Scotland via  www.beat106scotland.com.
