Paul O'Grady's dog Boycie dies as star self-isolates with coronavirus

Paul O'Grady's dog Boycie has sadly died during the coronavirus lockdown.

A final picture captures the precious moment of Paul lovingly looking into his fluffy Shih Tzu's eyes as they lay down together.

Kent Live reports Boycie was a big part of the 64-year-old's life, and was even featured in the branding of Paul O'Grady's dog food in 2018.

The pooch was described as a dog who "loved resting and watching the world go by."

This all comes after Paul O'Grady himself was struck down with coronavirus while self-isolating.

It is not known how Boycie died or how old the dog was.

'He had to say goodbye to Boycie'

An advert which included Boycie's adorable picture added: "Just don't let him near a dressing gown as he loves to steal the belt and let Paul chase after him."

The sad announcement was made via Paul's producer Malcolm Prince.

The tweet said: "A message from Paul... Sadly, he had to say goodbye to Boycie today.

"He asked me to share this photo #TeamPOG #paulogrady #FarewellBoycie."

Paul told What's On TV in 2014 how Boycie had rivalled his former dog, Olga.

He said it was his friend Joan who initially rescued Boycie - and in no time at all Paul became attached.

Boycie was labelled as a "smashing little fella" by his besotted owner.

Paul, who has been entertaining the nation for decades, had been enjoying the company of his pooch after admitting he thought he had coronavirus.

He has suffered three heart attacks during his lifetime, putting him in the at-risk category.
