Paul O'Connell to leave Stade Francais at end of season

Paul O'Connell will call time on his time with Stade Francais at the end of the season.

The former Ireland lock joined the French side as a forwards coach last summer but will leave after one year in Paris.

O'Connell also revealed that he has no concrete plans for next season despite rumours linking him with Toulon.

The 39-year-old said: "I have decided not to stay beyond my contract year with the club and do not envision joining another club next season either.

"I had a great adventure with Stade Français. I am grateful to the club for the opportunity they gave me to live and work in Paris. I was delighted to be able to work alongside Heyneke Meyer, the staff and all the club’s players.

"Finally, I am looking forward to the end of the season and I hope to be able to help the club during the finals of the Top 14."

Stade Francis commented: "Paul O’Connell is and will always be considered a member of the Stade Français Paris family."
