Paul Mescal odds for winning an Oscar have been slashed by bookies

Normal People star Paul Mescal is now 10/1 to bag an Academy Award.

The Co Kildare heartthrob, 24, has shot to stardom since his appearance in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel.

Now punters are backing him to make it in Hollywood and even win an Oscar.

The initial price that was introduced on Mescal winning by 2025 was 33/1, but those odds didn’t last long as he was backed into 14/1.

And Wednesday saw a burst of support in Boyle-Sports for the Maynooth native as he is just 10/1.

Meanwhile, Barry Keoghan is 7/2 to bag an Oscar by 2025, backed in from 12/1.

And punters are hopeful that it will be fifth time lucky for Saoirse Ronan for her starring role opposite Kate Winslet in the period movie Ammonite.

Sarah Kinsella from BoyleSports said: “Saoirse Ronan was backed last month to win her first Oscar for her upcoming role in Ammonite with her odds nibbled into 25/1 from 33/1.

“The attention has now turned to Normal People star Paul Mescal who was originally trimmed into 14/1 from 33/1 to win an Academy Award by 2025 but is now just a 10/1 chance.”
