Paul Mescal is set to star in new psychological drama 'God’s Creatures' - filming in Donegal

Paul Mescal is set to star in new psychological drama ‘God’s Creatures’.

God’s Creatures, is set in a ‘rain-swept’ Irish fishing village and currently filming in Donegal.

The Normal People star, 25, has been cast opposite Chernobyl star Emily Watson and The Fall acting star Aisling Franciosi.

Other cast members include Declan Conlon (Calvary), Marion O’Dwyer (Love, Rosie), and Toni O’Rourke (Wildfire).

The film is slated to examine a ‘devastating fallout after a mother lies to protect her son, according to US entertainment trade website Deadline.

The Sixty-Six Pictures production is being produced by Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly, following her critically acclaimed films Ammonite and Lady Macbeth.

The story has also been written by Irish talent Cronin O’Reilly and Shane Crowley, with the screenplay by Crowley.

Sixty-Six developed God’s Creatures with the support of Screen Ireland, BBC Film and A24.

Currently in production, it is being co-directed by Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer, who previously worked together on Holmer’s acclaimed coming-of-age drama The Fits.

Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, the Western Region Audiovisual Producers Fund/WRAP and BBC Films are among those financing the film.
