Paul Mescal confirmed as one of the guests on this Friday's RTE Late Late Show

Paul Mescal has been confirmed to join this Friday night's RTE Late Late Show.

The Kildare star is jetting into Dublin on Thursday for the premiere of his next movie, which also stars Emily Watson.

God’s Creatures follows Aileen, a mother, who lies for her estranged son, Brian. What seems like a white lie rips apart their family and close-knit Irish town, in turn, testing Aileen’s own sense of right and wrong.

Mescal’s character Brian returns home after spending years in Australia and seeks to reestablish his family oyster trapping farm but in a turn of events, he’s charged with sexual assault.

After the premiere on Thursday, he will join host Ryan Tubridy in the RTE studio to chat about the fallout from the BAFTAs and his hopes for Oscar glory.

Ryan confirmed the news on his RTÉ Radio 1 show on Monday morning, joking that he will look Paul in the eye on Friday and tell him: “Stop being so good at everything – it makes all of us feel very inadequate.”

It comes after Paul attended the 2023 BAFTAs in London on Sunday night where he missed out on the BAFTA for Best Actor for his performance in the film Aftersun, losing out to Elvis star Austin Butler.

The 27-year-old will again go up against Austin, The Banshees of Inisherin star Colin Farrell, The Whale’s Brendan Fraser and Living star Bill Nighy at the Oscars next month in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category.
