Paul Merson has taken aim at Tottenham’s players and Jose Mourinho following their defeat to Southamtpn.
Danny Ings’ first half strike was enough to hand the Saints all three points at St Mary’s.
The defeat leaves Spurs, who were far from impressive on the south coast, sixth in the table, six points off the Champions League places.
And Merson believes Spurs’ players played like they didn’t know what they were doing and there is no sign of progress under Mourinho.
“Not at all. No I thought they were poor today and I can’t remember them having a shot in the second half,” Merson replied when asked whether Spurs have improved under Mourinho on Soccer Special.
“There was a header from [Jan] Vertonghen that went straight to the keeper. It looked like to me a team that didn’t know what it was doing.
“There was no shape and if something was going to happen then they were literally just going to fall over it.
“You watch certain teams play and they have a way of playing. They get the ball out wide and have runners here and there. It was poor, really poor today, and I don’t see them, at the moment, getting in the top four the way they are playing.
“For me, worrying times for Tottenham at the moment.
"Their only consolation would be Chelsea drew at Brighton otherwise it would have been eight points which is a lot of points.
“But I do worry for Tottenham."
