Paul Merson makes Jurgen Klopp comparison as Brendan Rodgers' Leicester go top

Leicester's 2-0 win over Chelsea on Tuesday saw the Foxes go top of the table and manager Brendan Rodgers has been receiving praise for the job he is doing at the King Power Stadium.

Arsenal legend Paul Merson is a big fan of the former Liverpool and Celtic boss and believes the likes of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp would not be able to do what Rodgers has at Leicester.

Speaking on Sky Sports News after their win over Chelsea, Merson said: "I don't see Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp being able to do what Brendan Rodgers has done with Leicester."

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admitted his side were "beaten by the better team" on Tuesday and pundit Jamie Redknapp believes Leicester are title contenders this season, claiming "anything is possible".

Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp said: "Leicester had so much quality in their team. I spoke about them being workmanlike, in the nicest possible way. They were streetwise. They knew how to score, how to make opportunities, they defended for their lives.

"They outworked Chelsea and that should never happen in a football game. But we’ll talk about Chelsea later. I love what I see from Leicester."

Reacting to James Maddison's post-match interview, Redknapp added: "I love him. It's so refreshing to see a young man come out and own an interview like that and say 'yeah, we're playing great, why can't we think about things?'

"This is a Leicester side which has won the league with not as good a side as this one. This side is full of quality.

"Has it got the resources, has it got the players, has it got the strength in depth to win the title this year?

"Anything is possible, more so this year than any other year. They've got so many good players who work hard for each other.

"They've got a manager that's so knowledgeable in the game, he's giving young players an opportunity, they're scoring great goals – it's got a bit of everything this side."
