Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has insisted Frank Lampard should be named Premier League Manager of the Year if he guides Chelsea to FA Cup glory and a top-four finish.
The Blues booked their place in the FA Cup final on Sunday with an impressive 3-1 win over Manchester United.
Goals from Olivier Giroud, Mason Mount and an own goal from Harry Maguire booked a place in the Wembley showpiece against Arsenal.
It was an equally important day for Chelsea in the Premier League as Leicester City lost 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.
That means three points from their final two matches, away at Liverpool and at home to Wolves, will secure Champions League football.
With the Blues potentially three matches away from achieving that goal, Merson believes Lampard should be named Manager of the Year, factoring in their transfer ban and the sale of Eden Hazard.
Writing for Sky Sports, Merson put: “I thought Chelsea were outstanding, absolutely brilliant.
“Chelsea are in the same position as Man Utd, and they played a strong side. They've got to go to Liverpool and play at home to Wolves!
“Frank Lampard knows if he wins the FA Cup, it's a huge achievement.
“We spoke about this being a consolidating year for Chelsea, well he's two games away from the top four and he's one game from the FA Cup.
“For his first year in the top flight, where he couldn't buy a player, he should get manager of the year! It's phenomenal.”
