Paul Merson believes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will leave Arsenal in the summer.
Aubameyang has endured a frustrating start to the season, although he did score the opening goal in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
But speculation continues to grow over his future with the Gunners, with recent reports suggesting that the Gabon international is on the lookout for a move away from Arsenal in the summer, in a bid to secure Champions League football.
The former Dortmund ace has just 18-months remaining on his contract at the Emirates, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan just three of the clubs linked with the 30-year-old.
And Merson believes that although Aubameyang is playing for a top club in Arsenal, he is not playing in a top team, and as a result will look to leave the club in the summer.
"Aubameyang will be leaving," the former Arsenal forward told Soccer Special.
"He will be ringing his agent after that and saying: ‘I do not want to be tracking back like that.’
"He is coming towards the end of his career and he wants to be playing for a top team.
“He is playing for a top club, but not a top team."
Aubameyang has scored 56 goals in 89 appearances in an Arsenal shirt, with 15 of those goals coming this season.
He was recently made captain following the decision to strip Granit Xhaka of the captaincy, after an exchange with supporters during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in October.
