Paul Merson claims Liverpool missed 'absolute steal' transfer

Liverpool missed out on signing an 'absolute steal' during the summer transfer window according to Paul Merson.

He believes that Arsenal signing Thomas Partey - who arrived from Atletico Madrid in a £45 million deal as the Gunners activated his release clause - would get into every other midfield in the Premier League.

"I can’t speak highly enough of him," Merson outlined on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday.

"When they said Partey looks like he’s going to Arsenal for £45 million, I thought ‘am I missing a trick here?’

"He could play for anyone, I look at Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool.

"I can’t speak highly enough of him, it’s an absolute steal for Arsenal."

Partey was still at Atletico Madrid player when Jurgen Klopp's side beat Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield earlier in the season. The Reds play Arsenal again in April.
