Paul McGinn shares Hibs anger as he reveals what John Beaton told him about controversial Celtic call

Paul McGinn says John Beaton would have called back Kyogo Furuhashi 's cup final winner if it had been at the other end.

The Celtic star scored a stunning lob in the Premier Sports Cup final to complete a comeback after Hibs had gone ahead.

Interim Hibees boss David Gray was fuming at the decision to award the free-kick which led to the goal, and McGinn shared his complaint.

Indeed, the 31-year-old revealed that he and his team-mates were expecting a substitution as Nir Bitton took the set piece.

McGinn told Premier Sports: "Fair play to Kyogo, he’s a killer, he’s on the move at all times and his finish for the second goal is really good.

"But the fourth official has the board in his hand, so we’re all expecting the sub.

“It’s not a foul for starters, and then we’re expecting the sub to be made. If that’s Hibs that put the ball in and we’re through on goal, he’ll call it back, 100 per cent.

“But for us, he just lets Celtic go and score.

“90 seconds after that, Ralston takes a quick throw in when there’s a sub ready and he blows it back to let the sub be made.

“It’s all there in black and white for me.

"I had a word with him after as you’ll have seen me getting booked directly after it. I don’t really know what he said, just like a ‘get away’ or something.

"Celtic had plenty of the ball and chances, we can’t complain, we should still defend better. That’s one of the rules; until the whistle has gone, you play on.

“I actually asked John Beaton if there had been a whistle to play. There was no control over the situation. Was there a whistle to play the free-kick or what.

“He just said: ‘You’ve been in the game a long time, you know I don’t need to whistle.’"
