Paul McCartney spotted at Liverpool Lime Street station after poignant date

Sir Paul McCartney was spotted in Liverpool with his family following a poignant date for his family.

The Beatles legend was photographed at Lime Street on Sunday with two of his daughters - fashion designer Stella and photographer Mary, as well as his wife Nancy Shevell.

The rare sighting of the singer comes after Sir Paul paid tribute to his first wife, Linda, on what would have been her 80th birthday on Friday

Sir Paul posted a picture of Linda looking directly at the camera with her head in her hands lying in grass.

The 79-year-old wrote: "Have a great day on what would have been Linda’s 80th birthday - Paul."

Linda, a photographer, musician, animal rights activist and entrepreneur died from breast cancer when she was just 56 years old.

Pictures of Sir Paul and his family show the superstar with his fist in the air as the family made their way through the station.

He wore a navy jacket, blue shirt, dark blue rolled-up jeans, navy trainers and sunglasses.

One of Sir Paul's more recent public sightings in the city came in 2018, when he was spotted filming a very special edition of Car Pool Karaoke with James Corden.

The appearance was something most fans won't forget in a hurry.

Sir Paul was spotted in several iconic areas of the city for filming, including in a car on Allerton Road, in the city centre and at the Beatles statue on the Pier Head where he posed for a selfie.

He also returned to his childhood home, where he even gave the now owner a piano performance before visiting several places referenced in the song 'Penny Lane'.

However, the highlight of the show was when he surprised locals with an intimate performance at The Philharmonic pub, appearing from behind curtains, much to the shock of pub-goers.
