Paul McCartney says tree from George Harrison reminds him of Beatles bandmate

Maybe he’s amazed by the way it stays green all the time.

Paul McCartney said he’s often reminded of George Harrison by a tall fir tree his late Beatles bandmate gave him before he died.

The tree sits near the gate of McCartney’s home, the “Maybe I’m Amazed” singer said in an interview published by NPR earlier this month.

“I was leaving my house this morning, I get out of the car, close the gate and look up at the tree and say, ‘Hi, George,’” McCartney, 78, said. “There he is, growing strongly.”

Harrison died of lung cancer at age 58 in 2001.

McCartney said the guitar genius appreciated gardening and that the greenery has come to represent Harrison for him.

“George has sort of entered that tree for me,” McCartney said. “I hope he’s happy with that.”
