Paul McCartney’s life to be turned into documentary that took 12 years to make

Paul McCartney’s life is being turned into a documentary film which has been 12 years in the making.

The film has been created by Charlie Lightening, the man behind the award-winning feature on Liam Gallagher which won a gong at this year’s NME Awards.

Director Charlie says he will be collecting footage of Macca when he headlines at Glastonbury Festival’s 50th anniversary bash this year.

Speaking at the NMEs, he explains: “I’ve worked with Paul McCartney for 12 years and I followed him. I am still working with him, it’s not finished. I’ll be with him at Glastonbury.”

Charlie says Macca, 77, “is healthy, he’s good,” and tells how he has been a “mentor” to him over the years.

He adds: “He’s helped me with what I do and I adore him. He’s trusted me and to have someone like that to see up close and work with – that’s inspiring, it makes you better at what you are, itmakes you want to bebetter.”

Charlie’s doco about Liam, called As It Was, beat Elton John’s Rocketman at Wednesday’s rock ’n’ roll bash. He says of Liam: “What I love about him... no bulls*** about him even though he is super-celebrity, massive celebrity.

“He was Liam Gallagher in the 90s and the biggest person at the time.

“He’s survived it all, he’s come through it all, he’s never been in rehab, never felt sorry for himself in that respect and he’s been through a life journey and he has stayed true to himself and I think that’s why the kids like him.”

Couldn’t agree more.
