Jurgen Klopp's side are already champions of Europe and the World and are now heading for the club's first League Championship in 30 years but Paul McCartney had fans in stitches when he quipped that their next conquest will be the Super Bowl.
The Liverpool-born music legend and former Beatle attended the Super Bowl, American football's annual championship game, at the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida, on Sunday night.
On making his way into the stadium for the NFL showpiece between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, McCartney was asked: “Who's going to win?”
Showing that his Scouse wit is still razor sharp at 77 years of age, McCartney simply replied: “ Liverpool!”
Kansas City proved victorious on the night, 31-20, but curiously in a fixture that uses Roman numerals this was Super Bowl LIV (54) so perhaps this always was Liverpool's night?
The entertainment in famous Super Bowl half-time show was provided by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.
McCartney did the gig himself back at Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005, the year of Liverpool's famous Champions League win in Istanbul.
Again in Florida, but at the Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, he performed Drive My Car , Get Back , Live and Let Die plus Hey Jude .
Although McCartney grew up as an Evertonian like his father, going to Wembley to watch them in the 1968 FA Cup final, and says he would always support them in a Merseyside Derby match, for many years he has claimed to be a fan of both of the major clubs in his home city.
