Paul McCartney could headline Glastonbury 2020, Michael Eavis accidentally confirms

Paul McCartney could be snapping up a headline slot at Glastonbury next year, founder Michael Eavis revealed accidentally.

Eavis, 83, let slip that the Beatles legend could find himself at the top of line up for the 50th anniversary of the event in 2020.

McCartney was previously among the favourites rumoured to be headlining this years' festival at Worthy Farm, The Mirror reports.

Eavis has now sparked rumours that Sir Paul will return to Worthy Farm next summer.

"Paul's on good form at the moment," Eavis told BBC Somerset.

Asked "coming here?" he replied: "Hopefully for the 50th.

"Don't make a big thing of it though, will you?"

Paul was heavily rumoured to headline this year's Glasto, having previously topped the festival billing in 2004.

But instead, lucky ticket holders will get to watch Stormzy, The Cure and The Killers across the music-filled weekend.

Other acts confirmed for this year's festival are Kylie Minogue, Janet Jackson, Liam Gallagher, Miley Cyrus and Tame Impala.

Michael's daughter Emily Eavis, who also coordinates the annual event, had let slip that two of the biggest acts had already been signed up to perform in 2020.
