Former Irish League defender Paul Leeman has taken up a new coaching role with Irish Cup winners Crusaders .

Leeman fills the position vacated by Charlie Murphy who retired at the end of last season.

The 41-year-old played over 100 times for Crusaders between 2011 and '15 where he won a Premiership title along with the Setanta Sports Cup and League Cup.

Leeman also had a distinguished playing career with Glentoran where he spent 18 years.

He went on to coach at the Oval under former managers Ronnie McFall and Gary Smyth before parting company with the East Belfast club in May this year .

Crusaders said: "Crusaders Football Club are pleased to announce that Paul Leeman has joined the Coaching Staff at the Club. He hit the ground running and was on the bench for last nights Europa League game against B36.

"Irish League legend Paul played over 100 times for Crusaders between 2011-2015 after 18 years at Glentoran and won a Premiership medal, League Cup medal and a Setanta Cup medal in that time.

"He takes up the role vacated by the retirement of Charlie Murphy at the end of last season and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of the local game. He most recently was Assistant Manager at Glentoran.

"Welcome back Paul and we wish you every success in your coaching position."
