Paul Lambert shares Celtic 'restart' fear as Dom McKay departure sparks fresh Parkhead transition prediction

Concerned Paul Lambert reckons Dom McKay 's Celtic departure could mean another massive overhaul at Parkhead.

McKay has walked away from the chief executive role in Glasgow's east end having only recently taken over the hot seat from Peter Lawwell in July.

It means another major change at the top of the club after a massive summer overhaul in management and playing staff.

Lambert fears the quick-fire change in the Celtic hierarchy could lead to another transitional season for his former side.

He told the Go Radio Football Show: "I think it's a blow. When you have the transition of Peter leaving, you have to get somebody in there that can handle the club.

"Dominic was doing quite a good job. They have done ok in the European games, they lost the other week to Rangers, but they are going to have to restart.

"That's the big issue of it (McKay leaving).

"I met him a couple of times and I though he came across really well. He was a well-spoken guy and he had the club at heard. He wanted the club to do well.

"There is always going to be a transition period when a lot of players left, a new manager coming in and a new chief executive coming in, and Peter stepping down.

"They seemed to weather the storm after the shaky start they had. They had a lot of plaudits for the way they were playing, but if they don't win games all the board room stuff will start to come out."

When asked if the change at the top will impact on the players, Lambert stated: "Only if you don't get results.

"That's when people will start to say that the club isn't stable.

"If you are winning, it doesn't really matter what happens in the board room, but if you're not people can hide behind that and say they are in turmoil. I think that's an easy excuse."
