Paul Ince names 'unplayable' Manchester United star he hopes is rested by Erik Ten Hag

Reading Manager Paul Ince hopes to see Marcus Rashford benched for this weekend's FA Cup clash against Manchester United.

Ince will take his side to Old Trafford on Saturday evening in pursuit of a huge fourth-round upset. The Royal's boss spent six seasons at United as a player between 1989 and 1995, winning this very competition twice as a combative central midfielder under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Not only does his Championship outfit face a side one league and 30 places above them, but a world-class player at the top of his game in Marcus Rashford. The Reds forward has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the month for January, his 10 goals in as many games across all competitions since the World Cup including several outstanding individual finishes.

"Hopefully he’s not going to play!" Ince joked when asked about Rashford. "I was a bit disappointed they won 3-0 the other night because he might play against us now because it looks like that tie is more or less over. Like any player, it’s all about confidence and the right manager coming in and noticing how to build confidence. It is never easy because we saw in the past two years he had lost some of it.

"To see him doing what he does best is great for Manchester United and their fans. He is unplayable at the moment, unstoppable. The goal he scored against Forest showed what type of form he is in. We can’t be thinking about stopping Rashford though.

"They have so many top players – Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, Wout Weghorst who got his first goal against Forest. It’s not about us stopping players, it’s about us going there and putting in a performance."
