Former midfielder Paul Ince believes Manchester United's players will be "buzzing" and be looking to put on a show for new interim manager Ralf Rangnick against Arsenal this evening.
Rangnick is likely to watch from the stands for the first time, after being appointed as the club's new boss on Monday, while Michael Carrick sits in the dugout.
The experienced German — who has not been in management since leaving RB Leipzig in 2019 — will no doubt be keeping a close eye on every element of United's performance, before taking charge for the very first time against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
United, after securing a respectable point against Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge, will be looking to build on that result this evening against an in-form Arsenal side who have claimed an impressive 23 points from the last 30 on offer.
However, Ince believes the recent arrival of Rangnick could bring a much-needed "bounce" back to Old Trafford, with the Reds going in search of their first home win in the league since September.
"We’ve got Arsenal on Thursday. If we lose that one, that puts them eight points clear of us," Ince told Genting Casino.
"All the toing and froing of who’s going to be the manager, if they made a decision two or three weeks ago, then they would have had a manager in place.
"Having a new manager in place at Old Trafford, getting that bounce back, all the players will be buzzing and will want to make an impression on Ralf.
"He needs to get the team organised. He would have watched them against Chelsea."
Although Rangnick is only taking charge until the end of the season, Ince is hopeful that United's decision to turn to him will prove to be fruitful.
"He'll have ideas on what he wants to do when he goes in there, but as I say, he's only in there for six months, so he can't go in and make wholesale changes immediately," Ince continued.
"I hope the change can be swift – you've got to get the new manager in place for that to happen, we've seen what's happened with [Thomas] Tuchel. What he's done within seven months."
