Paul Ince hammers four Manchester United forwards - and makes bizarre Anthony Martial comparison

Former Manchester United forward Paul Ince has questioned the strength of the club's attack ahead of the new season, criticising the current options available to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Romelu Lukaku could leave the club before the Premier League transfer window closes and Ince is not convinced by Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Alexis Sanchez or Anthony Martial - comparing the latter to a fizzy drink.

Ince argues that the inconsistency of the France striker, along with his fellow United attackers, means that Solskjaer should be looking to improve his options in the final third as well as at the back.

“You talk about playing a front three with one up front, that one up front is usually a target man in Lukaku and it looks like he’s going to go to Inter Milan,” he told BBC Radio 5 live.

“You’ve got Rashford, who scored 11 goals last year and got a new contract. Lingard was diabolical last season, he really was. Sanchez, they’ve got nothing out of him.

“So as much as we’re talking about Maguire, Smalling and people like that, surely you’ve got to look at where we’re going to bring people in up front.

“Attacking wise, they’re not great. Martial, he’s a fizzy drink, he pops now and then, one moment he’s great, one moment he’s not. You never know what you’re going to get.

“Martial has so much ability but he looks like he doesn’t enjoy playing for United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, he doesn’t look like he’s enjoying his football and he’s an enigma.”
