Paul Hollywood shares unrecognisable snap with fans comparing him to Tom Cruise

Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood left fans stunned as he shared a throwback photo.

The Wirral chef decided to treat his followers to a snap of himself in the eighties, to celebrate eighties week on Bake Off.

Taking to Instagram Paul, 54, shared a selfie with his trademark silver hair gone and replaced with dark locks instead.

His twinkly blue eyes were unchanged however and his followers thought he looked like Hollywood star Tom Cruise - reports Mirror Online.

He wrote alongside the snap that he shared on Tuesday: "Here’s one from the late 80's, its also the theme for the Bake Off tonight, “THE 80s”...! 8pm on @channel4.

"Quiche, vol au vents and custard slices at the ready X."

He added the hashtags: #bakeoff #gbbo #getbaking #staysafe #80s.

Among the comments, one wrote: "Bit of a Tom Cruise look going on.... The 80s is my favourite decade, love everything about it."

A second said: "Handsome back then and sexy now!"

Another said: "Very Tom Cruise ‘ Cocktail’."

And a fourth added: "Apart from the eyes but you also look like a very young Tom Cruise @paul.hollywood."

Paul found himself in hot water with viewers a couple of weeks ago as they branded him a "big picky baby" over a demand he made.

The bakers were tasked with making steamed Japanese buns, with two of the bakers, Lottie and Mark, deciding to make burgers in their buns.

But as Paul came around to chat to the contestants and the two contestants said they were making burgers with all the trimmings, Paul's face fell.

He asked if they were including gherkins in their bakes and both contestants confirmed they were.

Paul then made a request for them to be left off the one he would sample, as he hated them.

His demand caused shock in the tent, with host Noel Fielding in disbelief that the chef wouldn't try the dish as it came.

And viewers at home were also stunned at Paul's request.

Suzanne Brown said: "Paul doesn't like gherkin? What a wally."

Jayne Yarwood said: "Surely if they’re being told to take out gherkin for Paul then they’re not identical anymore? Paul wrecking the brief for being pinickity!!"
