Paul Hollywood found himself the subject of much ridicule online after making a rather hypocritical remark to a Bake Off contestant.
The 53-year-old recently split from girlfriend Summer Monteys-Fullam, 24, after he asked her to sign a gagging order barring her from talking about their relationship, even with her own family.
During the first episode of The Great British Bake Off last night, fans spotted Paul's awkward remark to a contestant about their age.
As he and fellow judge Prue Leith floated around the work tables to speak to the various contestants.
One of these included Jamie Finn, who is currently on a gap year, and spoke about creating an Easter Simmel cake.
After Prue spoke to him about the marzipan in the cake, Sandi Toksvig asked him his age.
"How old are you, Jamie?" she asked.
"I'm 20," he replied with a smile.
Paul quipped: "Does your mum know you're here?"
"She does," Jamie laughed. "I'm allowed out."
But viewers hit back at Paul's joke, with one tweeting: "Dude your ex girlfriend was TWO YEARS OLDER WHEN YOU LEFT YOUR WIFE AND KIDS FOR HER."
Other fans were in hysterics, with one remarking: "That is a gorgeous cup of tea."
While another joked: "At least it turned out well for him."
