Paul Heckingbottom wins longest drive contest at Scottish Open Pro-Am event

Hecky's...on the tee!

The ASI Scottish Open is underway at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick this week with the pros getting the serious business started today.

Yesterday though, a collection of celebs and well-kent faces from sport, music and TV played alongside some of the world's top golfers as they sought to build momentum ahead of the big tee off.

Heckingbottom was amongst them, the Hibs manager playing alongside Italian pro Andrea Pavan as part of a foursome on the East Lothian Course.

"Fantastic day and the Scottish Open Pro-Am," he tweeted. Great team performance and thanks to Andrea Pavan and Alex.

"P.S. Longest drive winner!"

The event was christened "Tartan Wednesday" with players encouraged to wear tartan as money was raised for My Name'5 Doddie, the charity set up by former Scotland rugby international Doddie Weir after he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2017.

Winter olympian Eve Muirhead was another sporting name involved, along with Twin Atlantic front man Sam McTrusty, comedian Fred MacAuley.

The Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open is being played for the first time at The Renaissance Club, which was founded in 2008 and nestles on 300 picturesque acres along the Firth of Forth. Tickets for the Pro-Am are £20 for adults and £9 for juniors.
