Paul Heckingbottom sacked: Fans react to news Hibs have shown manager the door

Hibs fans have been busy reacting to news of Paul Heckingbottom's sacking on social media – and they're certainly not disappointed.

Large sections of the support had grown frustrated with the manager in recent weeks, particularly due to what they reckon was a poor summer transfer window.

The Easter Road club took action and decided to relieve Heckingbottom of his services earlier today (Monday), less than 48-hours after the Betfred Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic.

Cammy Rendall reckons the problems are much bigger than just the manager though, tweeting: "Heckingbottom gone, just about five players to sack as well now."

Ben Thomson added: "Glad Heckingbottom is gone he should have left after the Hearts game."

Robert Devenney reckons the club would have been better making the decision before the weekend's Betfred Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic. He tweeted: "If Hibs have actually sacked Heckingbottom seems a little bit cruel to both him and the fans they didn't do it before Saturday."

Keith Addy posted: "Heckingbottom gone. Stubbs and Doolan please."

Anthony Joseph reckons that the news could spark an "Edinburgh tug-of-war for Jack Ross".

Twitter user Tommy @MT1903 says it was the manager's summer transfer activity which ultimately sealed his fate.

He posted: "Heckingbottom gone, still don't think it was a bad appointment at the time for Hibs (did well end of last season) but recruitment this year was awful."

Francisco Patrick added: "Good luck to you Paul Heckingbottom. It just never happened with the signings. All the best to you and your family."
