Paul Heckingbottom’s future may be 'terminal' as Hibs boss stares at two crucial job-saving games

Michael Stewart insists Paul Heckingbottom ’s future is on a "knife’s edge".

The Hibs boss has claimed just one win from 10 matches to leave the Easter Road club lying second bottom of the Premiership .

They take on Livingston at home on Wednesday night followed by a Betfred Cup semi-final showdown against Celtic at the weekend.

And Stewart believes those two games are crucial to Heckingbottom whose outlook may be terminal.

The BBC pundit, who played for Hibs for two seasons from 2005, said: "They look too weak, particularly in the middle of the park.

"That comes down to recruitment and a lot of the guys the manager has brought in don't seem to be cutting the mustard.

"Wednesday is huge. If they get beaten and let's say they get gubbed by Celtic at the weekend, that could well be terminal.

"He's relatively new to the job but that runs out very quickly and, for a lot of supporters, it's run out already.

"Things are really on a knife-edge. If they get a result against Livingston, they can say, 'We're unbeaten in five and we've won our last game' and they might get some positivity from it."
