Paul Heckingbottom expects a reaction from his Hibs players after Ibrox showing

Paul Heckingbottom expects a response from his players this Saturday after they were on the end of a 6-1 drubbing from Rangers last Sunday.

Hibs host Greenock Morton in the last 16 of the Betfred Cup at Easter Road and are expected to progress to the quarter-finals.

More than a positive result though, a good display will be required to please both the manager and fans after what was served up last weekend.

“Yeah, definitely,” said Heckingbottom emphatically when asked if he expected a reaction. “Forget Sunday’s game we want to win Saturday’s game in it’s own right anyway.

“it’s the last 16 of the cup and that takes care of itself.

“But we want to make sure we don’t concede goals like we did on Sunday again. We’ve not done it in the time I’ve been here so we want to make sure we don’t do it again.

“I’ve probably watched the game again more than the players, got all the information from it, spoke to the group and spoke to individuals.

“If you knew exactly why it happened, this would be easy, it would be easy to put it right.

“Putting it in perspective and not shying away from anything that happened is really important. We’re bothered about us and how we play.

“We weren’t at our best, but regardless of that we don’t expect to concede goals like that.”
