Paul Heckingbottom claims 'I'd have knocked his teeth out' as Hibs boss aims incredible blast at fourth official

Hibs boss Paul Heckingbottom claims he was sworn at by fourth official Gavin Duncan during Sunday's Edinburgh derby draw.

And the furious Englishman says he "would have knocked his teeth out" if the incident had happened anywhere else.

Heckingbottom's astonishing blast came after his side drew 1-1 with Hearts at Easter Road - taking his impressive unbeaten run in the league to 10 games since he took over in Leith.

The Hibs boss claims the incident with Duncan happened in the first half but couldn't remember what had sparked the verbals.

Asked afterwards why he was so animated in the dug out Heckingbottom said: "It didn't help getting sworn at by the fourth official - I'd have knocked his teeth out if it had been anywhere else.

"So that's one of the reasons."

Asked if he would make a complaint about the official's conduct, he added with a wry grin: "No it doesn't bother me, he just asked me why I was animated, that's all."

Hibs were in the ascendancy for large swathes of the game, particularly in the second half, with a Christope Berra own goal earning the home side the lead.

But Uche Ikpeazu struck an equaliser 10 minutes from time, stunning the Hibees.

Heckingbottom said: "We wanted all three points. You got what you deserve, the big moments. 'Coulda shoulda' - that's how it is and we only got one point in the end.

"We've done well so far, still unbeaten. It's probably one of those games where you don't get what you deserve.

"It wasn't as good a derby game as the last one. We were well on top in the second half - we could've run away with it. They made tactical changes, but we just took our foot off the gas. We don't want to be like that so it's a good learning thing for us."
