Paul Heckingbottom chasing Hibs targets 'from day one' as Leeann Dempster details transfer plans

Leeann Dempster has revealed Paul Heckingbottom wasted no time choosing his transfer targets as she detailed Hibs' plans for the summer.

The Easter Road boss took over from Neil Lennon in February and has led the club on a run of nine Premiership games unbeaten.

But one of his first acts was to begin putting his own stamp on the squad by quickly identifying players he wanted to sign.

Hibs chief executive Dempster expects a busy summer for head of recruitment Graeme Mathie as the club look to build on Heckingbottom's promising start to life in Edinburgh.

She told Hibs TV: "As I've said a million times, the head coach is very much involved in recruitment.

"We've got a great structure here, a head of recruitment, various scouts who have contacts in and around the game.

"But ultimately, it's the head coach who drives it, sets the criteria that fits with the DNA of the club and is very specific about what he wants for each position.

"And right from day one, that's what Paul's been about - making sure Graeme understood the type of players, the qualities that he wanted in certain positions.

"He made some early identifications in the type of position in which we either wanted to strengthen or add a bit of depth.

"It's not changed. That works been going on in the background and everybody is adapting somewhat.

"Graeme is adapting a little bit to the way Paul wants to work, and there's a lot of detail involved in that.

"Graeme enjoys that element of detail and clarity. Paul is also excited about bringing in depth to the squad but it's equally right to say that he's extremely pleased with the squad that's here at the moment.

"The players he's got, he knows they're of a high quality and they're a brilliant group of players. What he wants to do is add to that in the summer."
