Paul Heaton makes Celtic introduction at TRNSMT as Beautiful South singer nod sparks wild crowd reaction

Singer Rianne Downey was introduced to the main stage at TRSNMT by Beautiful South frontman Paul Heaton - with a nod to the Scottish singer's Celtic connection.

It followed up a pledge from Heaton to put money behind the bar for festival-goers at Glasgow pubs including 226 Gallowgate, The Old Burnt Barns, Lynch’s Bar, The Braemar Bar, The Tolbooth Bar and Whistler on the Green which surround the festival site. However, he wasn't done there as he made an appearance on stage with Scottish singer Downey to duet some of his famous hits.

Heaton, who was performed on the main stage of the Glasgow Green event, was due to perform alongside Jacqui Abbot. However, she pulled out of the event on medical advice. This led to Downey being welcomed to the stage. The Scot has been vocal in her support for the Scottish Premiership side and has been associated with several fan events and shows - and Heaton clearly took note as he welcomed her to the stage.

Heaton, who is also associated with The Housemartins, said: "Welcoming to the stage, Rianne Downey: Glasgow Celtic." Downey then cheered with the festival-goers in a warm response to the songstress.
