Paul Hartley appointed new manager of League Two new boys Cove Rangers

Former Hearts hero Paul Hartley has been appointed manager of League Two side Cove Rangers.

Cove won promotion to the SPFL via the pyramid play-offs after winning the Highland League and defeating East Kilbride and Berwick Rangers over a two legged semi-final then final.

He replaces John Sheran, who suffered a heart attack in April and now moves upstairs to become director of football.

Hartley played in the North East with Aberdeen after leaving Bristol City. His last management job was with Falkirk, but he was sacked last August fater less than a year in charge.

Prior to that he took Dundee to the Scottish Premiership after back to back promotions with Alloa.

Hartley interviewed for the vacant Hearts job after Ian Cathro was sacked in 2017 but was unsuccessful.

He will be joined at Cove by former Tynecastle fitness coach Tam Ritchie.
