Paul George named Western Conference Player of the Month for February

Thunder forward Paul George has been named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Month for games played in February, the league announced on Friday.

In 10 games played, George averaged 35 points, 8.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game while he shot 44 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from beyond the arc.

George edged out Houston Rockets guard James Harden for the award. Harden averaged 37.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 2.5 steals in 11 games during the month.

The Thunder went 6-4 with George in the lineup.

The award for George marks the fourth of his career and the first since moving to the Western Conference. He last won the award with the Indiana Pacers in April of the 2016-17 season.

George has put together the best season of his nine-year career in his second season with the Thunder and has become a candidate for the MVP award as a result.

He is averaging a career-high 28.6 points per game this season.
