Paul George hits game-winner to propel Thunder to double-overtime win

Paul George entered the 2018-19 season 0-of-14 on potential go-ahead shots during his eight seasons in the league in the final 10 seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime.

On Friday, George hit his third game-winner of the season.

As the Thunder trailed by one point to the Utah Jazz with 10.2 seconds remaining, George corraled the rebound and dribbled the ball up the court. He made a few moves, slipped by Joe Ingles and Ricky Rubio and put up a floater over the outstretched arms of Rudy Gobert to sink the eventual game-winner with just 1.6 seconds left.

The Jazz missed a potential game-winner as time expired on the other end of the floor to give Oklahoma City the 148-147 win at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

The win ensured a season series win for the Thunder over the Jazz.

George finished with 45 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while Russell Westbrook had 43 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists as the Thunder improved to 38-20 on the season.

The Thunder held a nine-point advantage at halftime but allowed the Jazz back into the game during the second half as Utah led by as many as 10 points in the fourth quarter.

But, George took over late in the game. The MVP candidate recorded 17 of 45 total points in the fourth quarter to keep the Thunder alive and stay around long enough to pull out the win.

As George turned in yet another MVP-like performance, he was quick to offer praise to his other teammates, including a big 3-pointer by Abdel Nader in the first overtime to give the Thunder a two-point lead with less than a minute to go.

While it was an overall effort from OKC to pull out the win, the MVP resume for George got a little bit more help with his performance on Friday. His play likely quieted any doubt that his incredible run would slow down after the All-Star break.
